Hebrews 2:14-15
14 Because God’s children are human beings—made of flesh and blood—the Son also became flesh and blood. For only as a human being could he die, and only by dying could he break the power of the devil, who had the power of death. 15 Only in this way could he set free all who have lived their lives as slaves to the fear of dying.
This is our God, this is our King! He came into this world, fully man and fully God. Totally sovereign, yet chose to be as a Lamb. God Almighty wrapped in the same flesh and blood that you and I have. No matter what you're facing, Jesus has endured it and overcome it. No matter how big the trial, loss, disappointment or pain, Jesus has already taken it on to himself. No matter the depth of your sin, He has restoration for you. He reigns victorious over death and the enemy and it’s His desire to give that victory to you and I.
He is a Mighty Warrior that enters into the most broken and perverse parts of humanity to bring healing and His life. He doesn't wait for us to get our act together before coming to the rescue, but He does wait for permission. Once He has our yes, He can begin imparting His victory.
That’s the hard part…recognizing your very human condition and that you, like I, are in desperate need of saving. When I’m ready to confront my brokenness, and allow Him to invade, is when I’m ready to receive His victory. This is why the enemy is so keen on keeping us ashamed of ourselves. Shame acts as a barrier between us and healing. The enemy knows that he has lost and that he has no more authority over you unless you agree to give it to him. So he uses shame as a way for you to run from your brokenness, instead of confronting it with our King. So, instead of inviting our Deliverer into our brokenness to receive restoration, we run from it staying entrapped by a defeated deceiver. There is not a single thing we need, to pretend, to hide from God or ourselves. The sooner we confront it and invite the Lover of Our Souls into our mess, the sooner we receive what He paid for.
What are you or are you not dealing with? Are you ready to invite the One who entered into death to buy you life, into your mess. He is waiting and willing. Let Him in and begin living the way you were meant to live.
Love,
Pastor John
