The early Church met both in large public gatherings and in small groups "house to house." This has been called the "20-20" vision of the Bible, and it is the model of Church life we embrace at First Church. (We really want to be like the... First Church!) In fact, we believe God expects ALL of us in this Body to be actively engaged weekly in both the worship gathering and in a small, home-based group.
We call our home groups Life Groups. Meeting at various times throughout the week, Life Groups are always open to new attendees. All of our Life Groups are built around the idea of "transformation." God uses small groups to bring about growth and holy change in us in ways that cannot happen in settings like Sunday Worship or in information-based settings like Sunday Schools.
In First Church Life Groups, simple questions and honest discussions will allow the Holy Spirit to give extraordinary answers and bring genuine healing and hope. We discover that we are all very human, fragile, broken, and weak—yet in our transparency, we become stronger and better and more like Jesus! Life Groups are a great place to meet Jesus and an even better place to be "transformed by the Spirit from glory to glory, into the very image of Jesus" (see 2 Corinthians 3:18).
