Brainwashed Believers

Brainwashed Believers

Most serious runners will agree marathon running is 90% mental and 10 %

physical. Your mind and will become fatigued much sooner than your leg

muscles do. Finishing a race has more to do with your mental strength and

willpower than if your muscle strength is adequate. An experienced runner

trains their mental endurance as much, if not more than their physical

endurance. Self-talk and positive affirmation are as key to finishing a long

race as having strong legs and lungs are. Mental toughness is developed

by marathon runners over time, they are dedicated to what they are called

to, which is the race and the finish line. This is a deep spiritual revelation,

having your mind fixed on a goal is a paramount to you reaching that goal.

The difference for spirit filled believers is that we get our minds renewed

not trained.

1 Corinthians 2

14 Someone living on an entirely human level rejects the revelations of

God’s Spirit, for they make no sense to him. He can’t understand the

revelations of the Spirit because they are only discovered by the

illumination of the Spirit. 15 Those who live in the Spirit are able to carefully

evaluate all things, and they are subject to the scrutiny of no one but God.

16 For who has ever intimately known the mind of the Lord Yahweh well

enough to become his counselor? Christ has, and we possess Christ’s

perceptions.

Incredible! Part of our walk with Jesus is learning how to let go our

temporal perception, and to embrace the perception or the mind of Christ.

Especially in these trying days it is vital that we learn to see the world

according to our Heavenly Father and not according to the culture we are

living in. We are running a race as well, and if we don’t allow our minds to

be washed and renewed, we will never finish well. Yes, pastor John is

telling you, you need to have your brain washed…

Just like marathon runners, renewing or washing our minds of the world

and our flesh is a process. It takes time and effort to continually let go of

yourself and gain more of Jesus. Sanctification is not quick and easy. It

requires us to be aware of the reality that some of the things we call truth

are lies if they are not in alignment with the word. It takes commitment on

our part to be willing to invite Holy Spirit into the way we think so he can

reveal and unravel our minds and hearts. It takes discipline, for us to speak

over ourselves the truths Holy Spirit has led us to.  Let me be abundantly

clear, engaging the word of God, The Bible, with Holy Spirit is non- negotiable.

If you are not doing that, you need read no further. Start there.

Engaging God's presences begins with His word. If you are already actively

reading the scriptures, great! You are already engaged in the process of

receiving the mind of Christ. Are you inviting Holy Spirit to expose lies in

your heart that conflict with the word? Are you speaking truth over yourself

that God speaks over you? I believe this is how the First Church was able

to endure so much with so little support and resources. Their minds were

fixed and focused on a kingdom that cannot be shaken. A handful of

Kingdom minded people with nothing, can accomplish much more than

anyone with all the resources of the world. I know we are called to the same.

So, let me ask you a question. Where is your mind anchored? Are you

ready to let Jesus wash it?

Love,

Pastor John
